Absa has no single loans number. Personal loans and overdrafts are on 0860 100 372, car loans on 0860 669 669 and home loans on 0860 111 007, and anyone falling behind on repayments is sent to 0861 222 272. We read these routes on absa.co.za, including its Talk to us directory and its loan product pages, on 16 September 2026.

ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory and has no connection to Absa. We cannot look up a loan balance, approve an application or arrange a repayment plan.

People often look for an Absa loan department email address. Absa does not publish a mailbox dedicated to personal loans. Its directory puts absa@absa.co.za next to the overdraft entry, lists home@absa.co.za for home loans and shows vehiclefinance@absa.co.za beside the Islamic car finance entry. Absa’s home loan product pages give propertyhub@absa.co.za instead, and repayment difficulties go to bondrs@absa.africa, so the right address depends on the page you started from.

Absa’s head office is at Absa Towers West, 15 Troye Street, Johannesburg. The Talk to us directory places it on the 7th floor with postal code 2001, while the site footer uses 2000. It is a corporate address and does not process loan applications or payments over the counter; for that, use a branch from the Find a branch tool on absa.co.za.

The loan pages do not print opening hours for 0860 100 372, 0860 669 669 or 0860 111 007. The only loan line with published hours is the debt assistance number above, which also opens on Saturday mornings. Absa’s general enquiries line, 08600 08600, answers seven days a week from 08:00 to 17:00 for anything that does not fit a product line.

Product or service support

Absa’s loans section sorts borrowing by purpose: money for yourself, a home, a car, your studies, or help to manage existing debt. Each purpose has its own line in Absa’s directory, so check the account type on your statement before you dial.

Several common loan tasks need no call at all. In the Absa Banking App or Absa Online you can see the balance on a vehicle finance account, make extra payments into it from an Absa transactional account, and download a settlement quote or paid-up letter. A car loan can also be paid by debit order, EFT from another bank using the account as a beneficiary, or cash at an Absa ATM through Cardless Banking and Scan and Pay.

If you cannot get through, there are other official routes. The revolving credit and Switch and Save pages have a Call me back button, the Offers menu in the Banking App shows provisional loan offers for existing customers, and Absa Abby, the virtual assistant inside the app, can walk you through a loan application. Your nearest branch can also take a loan query in person.

Eligibility, account or policy requirements

Every Absa loan is a credit agreement with Absa Bank Limited, credit provider number NCRCP7. Absa says a settlement quote reaches your inbox within a day and stays valid for six days. Cash paid into a car loan at an Absa ATM is limited to 100 notes per deposit.

Absa’s debt pages add that if your credit provider cannot agree lower instalments, a registered debt counsellor is the next step, and the National Credit Regulator on 0860 627 627 can help you find one. Act before legal action starts, because agreements already under a Section 130 summons are excluded from debt counselling.

Escalation route

  1. Raise the problem on the line for your loan type and write down the reference number the consultant gives you.
  2. If repayments are the issue, call 0861 222 272 before an instalment bounces rather than after.
  3. If the loan team does not resolve it, log a complaint with Absa’s Complaint Resolution Suite on 0800 41 41 41 or actionline@absa.co.za, weekdays 08:00 to 16:30.
  4. An unresolved banking or credit dispute can then go free of charge to the National Financial Ombud Scheme South Africa on 0860 800 900 or info@nfosa.co.za.
