Absa Private Banking Contact Details

Verified 16 September 2026Official source onlyIndependent directoryReport a wrong number

The Absa Private Banking number is 0860 553 553, the Private Assist line, or +27 11 501 5011 from outside South Africa, and the email address is privatebanking@absa.co.za. Absa describes Private Assist as a 24/7 service for administrative and transactional requests, and it also lists a direct number for each of its Private Banking suites. These details were read on the Private and Wealth pages of absa.co.za on 16 September 2026.

ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory. We are not Absa and cannot reach your private banker or see your accounts.

The two hour ranges do not match. Absa calls Private Assist a 24/7 line, but the credit card application and airport lounge pages print weekday and Saturday hours beside the same 0860 553 553 number, so use the 24/7 claim for service requests only. The Mauritius offshore page also prints 0861 462 273, which is Absa’s general card line, so we have not listed it as a Private Banking number.

Product or service support

Private Banking is built around a dedicated banker who is meant to be your first point of entry, with the suites above for face-to-face consultations and Private Assist for everyday requests. The core product is the Ultimate Private Account at R500 a month, with a 100% discount on the fee for a spouse’s account and R300 a month for the Young Professionals version. It includes an Enhanced Credit Facility of up to R250 000, a Balance Booster for small shortfalls, up to 10 Savings Boosters, Absa Rewards and a Digital Fraud Warranty, all subject to Absa’s terms and credit approval.

The linked Visa Signature credit card carries a credit limit of up to R228 000, up to 57 days interest-free, 24 Bidvest Premier lounge visits plus two guest visits a year, and six international lounge visits through Visa Airport Companion. On the lending side Absa offers a Structured Loan with one interest rate across your loans, home loans with Multi-plan and FlexiReserve, and vehicle finance where your private banker applies on your behalf. International services include the Multi-currency Cash Passport and a Foreign Currency Investment Account.

Eligibility, account or policy requirements

  • Income: Absa pitches Private Banking at people earning R750 000 to R3 million a year. The credit card page asks for a monthly income of R62 500, age 18 or older, and an affordability assessment.
  • Identity: a bar-coded ID book or smart ID card.
  • Address: one proof of residence no older than three months, such as a utility bill, lease, store or cellphone account, another bank’s statement or SARS correspondence.
  • Income proof: three months of payslips or bank statements, an employment contract if you are newly employed, or proof of rental income.

Absa Wealth is presented as a separate offering on absa.co.za, with its own advisory and investment management pages and its own contact details, 0860 265 265 and wealthassist@absa.co.za. Use those only if your relationship sits with Wealth rather than Private Banking.

Escalation route

  1. Raise the issue with your private banker or suite first, or with Private Assist on 0860 553 553, and ask for a reference.
  2. If that does not settle it, email a formal complaint to actionline@absa.co.za or call the Complaint Resolution Suite on 0800 41 41 41 (weekdays, 08:00 to 16:30).
  3. Once Absa has given its final response, an unresolved banking or credit dispute can go to the National Financial Ombud Scheme on 0860 800 900 or info@nfosa.co.za, at no cost to you.
