What happened to Blue Bean?
Blue Bean was a Standard Bank card brand. It is no longer part of the bank’s published card range: Blue Bean does not appear anywhere on Standard Bank’s credit cards pages, and the bluebean.co.za address did not resolve when we checked on 23 September 2026.
If you still hold an account with that name, or are being contacted about a Blue Bean balance, treat it as an ordinary Standard Bank card account:
- Phone 0860 123 000 and give the card or account number from your statement.
- Email personalbanking@standardbank.co.za with the account number in the subject line.
- If a third party is collecting on the account, ask Standard Bank to confirm in writing who holds it before you pay anyone.
An old brand name is a favourite hook for fake “settlement” calls. No legitimate collector minds you putting the phone down and calling 0860 123 000 yourself.
Emailing Standard Bank about a card
- Personal card and account queries: personalbanking@standardbank.co.za.
- Business and enterprise clients: BCBEnterprisedirect@standardbank.co.za.
- Complaints that have not been resolved through the call centre: complaint.resolutioncentre@standardbank.co.za.
- General information requests: information@standardbank.co.za.
- Standard Bank Mobile support: support@mobile.standardbank.co.za, or 0801 212 577 or 031 819 5321, and 135 from a Standard Bank Mobile SIM.
Never email a full card number, a PIN or an OTP. Give the last four digits and your ID number, and let the bank verify you on the phone.
Doing it without phoning
Standard Bank publishes self-service routes for most card work, including a credit limit increase page, a card management section, a virtual card facility and a WhatsApp chatbot, all reachable from the credit cards and ways-to-bank sections of standardbank.co.za. The site also has a status page showing whether the banking platforms are up, which is worth checking before you queue to report an app problem.
There is also a call-back form on the contact page if you would rather not wait in the queue.
If you are behind on the account
Standard Bank publishes a separate customer solutions section covering debt management solutions, a Debt Care Centre, deceased estates and EasySell, its route for selling a financed property. If the balance on an old card is the problem, ask the call centre to put you through to debt management rather than trying to negotiate with a general consultant.
Get any arrangement in writing, keep the reference number, and make sure the account you pay into is Standard Bank’s own. If a collector says the account has been handed over, ask Standard Bank to confirm that and to name the company before any money moves.
Before you call
- Have the card or account number, your ID number and the disputed transaction dates and amounts.
- For a lost card, block it first on 0800 020 600 and ask for the reference before discussing anything else.
- For fraud, use 0800 222 050 rather than the general line; it is the number Standard Bank gives for reporting a new incident.
- From outside South Africa, use the international numbers, which are ordinary paid calls rather than toll-free.
Other Standard Bank contact panels
The contact page groups its numbers by product rather than listing them all at once, which is why a card number can be hard to find. The panels cover insurance (travel, funeral, home owners, car and home, credit life, and personal accident and hospital cash plans), emergency contacts and emergency assist, international banking for non-residents and foreign nationals, travel wallet and international payments, ways to bank including the WhatsApp chatbot, prepaid services, internet, cellphone and telephone banking, card enquiries, Prestige, Private and Shari’ah-compliant banking, investments, home loans and asset finance, and merchant solutions. Open the panel that matches your product and the numbers and mailboxes appear underneath it.
