Sage publishes one telephone number for accounting and payroll queries, separate mailboxes for customer care and complaints, and a Johannesburg office address. Support for a specific product runs through its support portal rather than the general number.
Official contact channels
- Accounting and payroll queries: 086 123 7243 β published as 086 123 SAGE
- Customer care: [email protected]
- Complaints: [email protected]
- Johannesburg office: 6th Floor, Gateway West, 22 Magwa Crescent, Waterfall, Midrand, 2066
- Product support, partner enquiries, careers and media: separate routes published on the Sage website
Sage publishes customer care and complaints as distinct mailboxes. Once a matter has already failed to resolve through support, the complaints address is the correct escalation rather than repeating the query to customer care.
The 086 number spells SAGE on a keypad, which is why it appears in two forms. Both refer to the same line.
What this organisation provides
Sage provides accounting, payroll, HR and business management software to small and medium businesses, accountants and larger organisations. Its South African range spans cloud accounting, Sage Intacct, Sage X3 and payroll and HR products.
That product spread is the main reason contact goes astray. A payroll question, an accounting software question and an enterprise ERP question are handled by different support teams, and the general number is aimed at accounting and payroll specifically.
Much of Sage’s software is sold and supported through a partner and reseller network rather than directly. If you bought through an accountant, a bookkeeper or a reseller, that partner is often the fastest route β Sage publishes a directory for finding a certified expert.
Address and operating information
Sage’s South African office is in Midrand, at Gateway West on Magwa Crescent in Waterfall. It is a corporate office rather than a walk-in support centre, and Sage does not publish contact centre operating hours on its contact page.
Sage also publishes Sage University for training, a community hub, and a support portal β all of which resolve more product questions than the phone line does, particularly for how-to questions rather than faults.
Support and escalation routes
Sage does not publish a general switchboard or a support email beyond customer care and complaints, so the support portal is the intended first stop for a product fault. The published phone line is scoped to accounting and payroll rather than the whole product range.
Have your Sage account or customer number, the product name and version, and the specifics of the error including any message text. Software support is diagnosed from exact detail rather than description.
For payroll, note the tax year and the pay period concerned, since payroll issues are almost always period-specific and legislation changes annually.
Escalate to the complaints mailbox with the original reference number if support does not resolve the matter. Sage is a software supplier rather than a regulated financial services provider, so a commercial dispute falls under general consumer and contract law, with the National Consumer Commission as the statutory consumer body.
