TygerBurger is a community newspaper serving the northern suburbs of Cape Town. It is published by Novus Media, and both its website and its email addresses now sit on the publisher domain rather than on its own.
Official contact channels
- Telephone: 021 910 6500
- General enquiries and newsroom: [email protected]
- Advertising: [email protected]
- Contact form on the paper site, with categories for general, advertising, editorial, subscription support and story tips
The same telephone number answers both general and advertising enquiries, so the way you reach the right desk is the email address or the reason you choose on the form, not a different number. Story tips and editorial queries go to the newsroom address, which is the same as the general one.
What this organisation provides
The paper covers local news in Afrikaans and English, along with schools, sport, business, lifestyle and community events, and it publishes e-editions of the printed paper online. It is a free community title, which means its revenue comes from advertising rather than cover price, and that is why the advertising route is given as much prominence as the newsroom.
Address and operating information
The title has moved online. The old tygerburger.co.za address now redirects to the publisher site at novanews.co.za, where the paper sits alongside other Novus Media community titles, so an older bookmark or an older contact page for the paper may no longer resolve. The email addresses above are the current ones and end in novusmedia.co.za rather than tygerburger.co.za.
Support and escalation routes
If something published about you was wrong, write to the newsroom address and ask for a correction or a right of reply, quoting the date of publication and the specific statement you say is inaccurate. Being specific matters more than being forceful, and most corrections are settled at this stage.
If that does not resolve it, South African newspapers are subject to the Press Code, and the Press Council ombud adjudicates complaints from members of the public free of charge, within a time limit that runs from the date of publication. The ombud deals with editorial content rather than with advertisements, and a complaint about an advert belongs with the Advertising Regulatory Board instead. Note that accepting an ombud ruling generally means giving up a court claim on the same facts.
