Optional cover you can add
King Price says you need comprehensive car insurance before you can add any optional cover. The options on its car insurance page are:
- Car hire
- Credit shortfall
- King’s cab
- Tyre and rim
- Scratch and dent, and “little dings and tyre things”
- R1 insurance, which covers items such as golf clubs, hearing aids or a bicycle for R1 a month when your car is comprehensively insured
- Specified radio
King Price also advertises up to 20% off when you insure more than one car. Premiums depend on your risk profile and are reviewed every year.
Questions King Price answers on its car page
- Car hire: paid only if you added car hire to the policy and were paying that premium before the incident.
- Private vs business use: private use is private and social driving. Business use is when the car is an essential part of your work, such as deliveries or seeing clients.
- Accident assist: available on comprehensive car or motorbike cover, including help getting home. Check your policy schedule.
- Excess: a higher excess means a lower premium, and the other way round. You must be able to pay the excess when you claim.
- Other drivers: covered, as long as they do not drive the car more than the regular driver, have your permission, and meet the policy requirements.
- Retail vs agreed value: retail value is what a dealer could sell the car for. Agreed value is the amount you and the insurer agree on.
- Licence: a learner’s licence is accepted. Without a valid driver’s or learner’s licence, King Price cannot cover you.
- Modifications: you must tell King Price about any modifications, alterations or performance enhancements so it can review the cover.
Managing your policy
Comprehensive cover is the level that carries the optional extras and accident assist, so check which level you are on before you rely on them. Third Party, Fire & Theft and Third Party Only policies do not qualify for the add-ons above.
King Price has a self-service portal and an app for policy documents and changes. The contact form handles changes to a policy, document requests, policy questions, cancellations, claims and follow-ups, recovering an excess, third-party claims, and finding an inspection centre. For anything urgent, call 0860 50 50 50 or send a WhatsApp.
