How to claim from King Price
- Tell King Price: start the claim online, in the app or self-service portal, or by calling 0860 50 50 50.
- Keep track: follow the claim online. Your allocated claims agent is also your point of contact.
- Repairs: King Price uses its own service partners. It often picks the repairer, but you can also look at its list of approved repairers. If you need an inspection before or after a claim, go to one of its inspection centres.
Rules to follow before you claim
- Report the claim, or any incident that could lead to one, within 30 days.
- Report theft, hijacking, burglary or any other crime to the police immediately and get a case number.
- Report an accident to the police as soon as possible if someone was injured or someone else’s property was damaged, even if your own car or motorbike was not damaged.
- For lost or stolen home contents, make a detailed list of the items.
- After a car accident, take photos of the scene and the damage and get the details of everyone involved.
- Do not repair or replace anything before King Price authorises it.
- Do not admit guilt or offer a settlement to anyone else involved.
King Price says it confirms that every claim is valid before paying, which can sometimes delay authorisation.
Commercial and community claims
Commercial clients should contact King Price, their broker or, for community schemes, their managing agent as soon as possible after an incident. The 30-day reporting deadline also applies to commercial claims. King Price’s commercial claims page warns that a late claim without a reasonable explanation will expire. Claim forms are on the same page: vehicle accident, fire or theft; fire, buildings, office contents or homeowners; and portable possessions.
King Price’s claims glossary explains three terms you will see in your claim paperwork. The policy schedule is the document that proves you are covered and lists what is included. The insured is you, or your business. The broker is the adviser who handles your policy and deals with King Price on your behalf.
Accident, medical and roadside assistance
King Price clients with comprehensive car or motorbike cover get accident assistance, including towing or motorbike trailering and transport to work or home, when they call King Price. Medical assistance after an accident is free as long as the accident happens inside South Africa. King Price does not cover unapproved towing or repairs, or towing to a repairer of your choice, so call 0860 50 50 50 before arranging a tow yourself.
