King Price runs claims on one national number. There is no separate line per province and no separate line per product; the same number takes a motor claim, a household claim and a business claim.
King Price claims contact details
- Claims telephone: 0860 50 50 50
- From outside South Africa: +27 860 505 050
- Live chat and WhatsApp are offered from the King Price website
- Call-back form, with Submit or follow up on my claim and Recover an excess or submit a third party claim as selectable reasons
The call-back form is worth knowing about because it routes by reason. Picking the claims reason puts you with the claims team rather than the general queue, which matters when the switchboard is busy after a hailstorm or a long weekend.
What to have ready when you phone
- Your policy number.
- The date, time and place of the incident.
- For a motor claim: the other vehicle’s registration and the other driver’s details if there was a third party.
- A SAPS case number where one is required — theft, hijacking, malicious damage and most accidents involving another party.
- Photographs taken at the scene, if you have them.
Excess recovery and third party claims
The same number handles the two directions people confuse. Excess recovery is King Price trying to get your excess back from the party who caused the loss, and it happens after your own claim is settled. A third party claim is you claiming against a King Price policyholder when you are not insured with King Price yourself — you can use this number for that, and you will need the King Price policyholder’s details and a case number.
Timing
Report a claim as soon as you reasonably can. Insurance policies carry notification periods, and a late report is one of the more common reasons a valid claim runs into trouble. If you cannot get through, log the call-back rather than waiting, so the attempt is on record with a date on it.
If a claim is declined or delayed
- Ask for the decision in writing with the specific policy clause relied on. A verbal decline is not something you can act on.
- Use King Price’s own internal complaints process first — the ombud will ask whether you have.
- If it is still unresolved, the National Financial Ombud Scheme handles short-term insurance complaints free of charge to the consumer.
Beware of claims fraud aimed at you
After an accident, people sometimes receive calls offering to handle a claim, arrange a tow or recover an excess for an upfront fee. King Price does not ask for a payment to process a claim. Phone 0860 50 50 50 yourself rather than accepting a call from someone who says they are handling it for you.
