MiWay publishes a main number for sales and servicing and a separate 24/7 line for emergency assistance at the roadside or at home. Knowing which is which before you need them is the point of this page.
Official provider route
- Main line, sales and servicing: 0860 64 64 64
- 24/7 emergency assistance, roadside and home: 0860 07 67 64
- Additional published numbers: 0860 00 25 26 and 0860 004 007
- Report insurance fraud: [email protected]
- Ethics reporting: [email protected]
- Self-service: MiWay client portal, app, WhatsApp chat and self-inspection
MiWay describes the emergency number as available 24/7 for when you are stuck at the roadside or need help at home. That is a different service from lodging a claim, though one usually follows the other.
Product or service support
MiWay also publishes two separate reporting addresses β one for insurance fraud and one for ethics concerns β which are deliberately kept apart from the servicing lines so a report is not routed through the team it may concern.
MiWay is a direct insurer, selling car, motorcycle, business and household cover without a broker. It is a licensed non-life insurer and Financial Services Provider, FSP 33970.
Being direct changes the practical dynamics. There is no intermediary to chase the insurer on your behalf, but equally no one between you and the decision-maker. MiWay leans heavily on self-service β a client portal, an app, WhatsApp and a self-inspection tool that lets you photograph a vehicle yourself rather than booking an inspection appointment.
Self-inspection is worth knowing about specifically, because it is often the step that holds up cover starting on a newly insured vehicle.
Eligibility, account or policy requirements
MiWay publishes several numbers rather than one, and they are not interchangeable. Note which is which before an incident: searching for the right number while standing at the roadside is the worst time to discover the difference.
Have the policy number, the vehicle registration and the regular driver’s licence details ready. Cover generally depends on the driver being licensed and permitted to drive the vehicle, so if the regular driver has changed, update the policy rather than leaving it to surface at claim stage.
MiWay does not publish contact centre operating hours for its main line on its contact page, though the emergency line is published as 24/7.
Escalation route
The self-service portal is generally faster than the phone for documents, policy schedules and confirming what cover is in force, and it leaves a record of what was changed and when.
Use the main number for cover, premiums and policy changes, and the emergency number when you are stranded. Ask for a reference on any change to cover, and confirm changes in writing through the portal where possible.
If a complaint is not resolved internally, short-term insurance disputes in South Africa can be taken to the National Financial Ombud Scheme once the insurer’s own process has been exhausted. Suspected fraud should go to the dedicated fraud line rather than the servicing number.
