Old Mutual advises you to speak to your financial adviser first before you stop paying premiums. If you do not have an adviser, or prefer to deal with Old Mutual directly:

Investment plans use separate forms. For a surrender, Old Mutual uses its surrender application form.
What you need before contacting Old Mutual
- Your ID number, your policy number and your contact details, which Old Mutual asks you to include in service requests.
- For a surrender application: a certified copy of your ID document, a cessionary letter if the policy has been ceded, and a cancelled cheque or a bank statement.
Before you cancel, know what you give up. Old Mutual’s cancellation declaration states that no benefits are payable after the effective date of cancellation. Life cover is not an investment, so premiums are not refunded when you cancel. If premiums stop, cover stops, unless Premium Protection applies.
