DStv leads with self-service rather than a call centre number, and for most account problems that is genuinely the faster route. Its WhatsApp line handles the common ones, and there is a USSD code that works from any handset with no data at all — you can check what you owe, clear errors, view transactions and reconnect a package by dialling it. For anyone whose service has been suspended and who has no airtime or data, that USSD string is the single most useful thing on this page. Live chat runs 16 hours a day and the call centre longer still, seven days a week including public holidays. There are also five walk-in service centres. All details come from DStv’s own contact page.
Official contact channels
- WhatsApp self-service: save 060 060 3788 and send “Hello” to start
- USSD: dial *120*68584# from the cellphone number registered on your account — check what you owe, clear errors, view transactions and reconnect packages
- Live chat: the chat icon at the bottom right of dstv.com, Monday to Sunday 07:00 to 23:00
- MyDStv app: on Android, iOS and Huawei. DStv notes the app is for South Africa only and requires registration.
- Call centre: seven days a week including public holidays, 08:00 to 22:00, at standard call rates
The USSD code must be dialled from the number registered on the account, which is the most common reason it fails. If your registered number has changed, that has to be corrected first.
What this organisation provides
DStv is MultiChoice’s South African pay-television service, covering subscription packages, streaming, BoxOffice rentals and a business offering. Because it is a subscription service delivered through decoders and streaming, most support contact concerns billing, error codes, reconnections and equipment rather than content — which is why its self-service tools are built around exactly those four things. Corporate and media enquiries are handled separately by MultiChoice rather than by DStv customer care.
Address and operating information
DStv publishes five walk-in service centres: Randburg, Polokwane, Durban Central, Umhlanga and Cape Town. The Randburg centre is at the corner of Oak Avenue and Grove Street, Ferndale, Randburg, open Monday to Friday 08:00 to 17:00 and Saturday 08:00 to 17:00, closed on Sundays and public holidays, on (011) 289 2222. DStv also publishes (031) 710 2222 for its KwaZulu-Natal centres and (021) 508 2222 for Cape Town. It offers a get-directions link and an appointment booking option for each centre, and booking ahead is worth doing rather than arriving unannounced.
Support and escalation routes
- Try USSD or WhatsApp first for billing, errors and reconnections. These resolve the majority of account issues without a queue.
- Use live chat between 07:00 and 23:00 if self-service cannot settle it, and keep the transcript.
- Attend a service centre only for something physical, such as a decoder or smartcard, and book an appointment first.
- If DStv cannot resolve a matter, MultiChoice publishes a corporate enquiry form with a Complaint category at multichoice.com. Quote your DStv reference when using it.
- A complaint about broadcast content rather than service goes to the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa.
