Makro is unusually precise about when it is closed, and that is the most useful thing on this page. Its contact centre runs Monday to Saturday 08:00 to 17:00 and Sunday and public holidays 09:00 to 16:00 — but Makro states plainly that it closes on Good Friday, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, and that on the Day of Goodwill it trades only until 14:00. Most retailers leave you to guess. Beyond the hours, there are three routes and they all reach the same team: a share-call number, a WhatsApp line and an email address, covering both online and general enquiries. There is no separate online-orders desk, so the same channel handles a delivery problem and a store question. All details come from Makro’s own contact page.
Official contact channels
- Telephone: 0860 600 999
- WhatsApp: 060 019 7747
- Email: [email protected]
- Help Centre: on makro.co.za, alongside FAQs and a payments section
- Store finder: the route for anything specific to a warehouse store
- App: the Makro shopping app
Makro publishes these as covering online and general enquiries together, so there is no need to work out which desk you need before calling — unlike most large retailers, which split retail and online support.
What this organisation provides
Makro is a South African warehouse retailer selling appliances, electronics and gaming, liquor, pantry and grocery, home and furniture, household and beauty, baby and books, sports and outdoor, and DIY, through large-format stores and an online shop. It also runs Makro Business for trade customers and a Sell On Makro marketplace for third-party sellers — both of which are separate propositions from ordinary retail, so say which applies if your query concerns one of them.
Address and operating information
- Monday to Saturday: 08:00 to 17:00
- Sunday and public holidays: 09:00 to 16:00
- Closed: Good Friday, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day
- Day of Goodwill: open until 14:00
Those are contact centre hours, not store hours. Individual Makro warehouses keep their own trading hours, which are longer, and are listed in the store finder. Makro publishes no head office street address on its contact page.
Support and escalation routes
- Quote your order number for anything bought online. Without it a delivery or refund query cannot be traced.
- Use WhatsApp where you want a written thread — useful on a delivery dispute, since it timestamps what you were told.
- For an item bought in a warehouse rather than online, the store is the right destination, and the store finder gives its details.
- Makro publishes a returns policy alongside its terms and conditions; read the relevant clause before escalating, since it sets the terms a complaint is measured against.
- An unresolved consumer complaint about goods or service falls within the jurisdiction of the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud.
