MiWay says you can cancel your cover at any time with one phone call, that the cancellation is instant, and that any refund due is processed straight away. The speed is the point to be careful with. Instant means you are uninsured from that moment, so have your replacement cover in place before you make the call. Read from miway.co.za on 13 September 2026.

Before you cancel

  • Start the new policy first, and cancel MiWay with effect from the day the new cover begins
  • If the car is financed, confirm the new policy meets the bank’s requirements before the MiWay cover ends
  • Check whether you are part way through a MiCashback cycle. MiWay’s MiCashback terms say you lose the bonus entirely if you cancel, because it depends on completing the 2-year cycle.
  • If you have more than one MiWay product, say exactly which one you are cancelling

After the call

Ask for the cancellation to be confirmed in writing and note the date and the agent’s reference. Watch your next bank statement. If a premium is still collected after a confirmed cancellation, that is a refund claim with the confirmation as your evidence. MiWay also asks departing clients to tell it why they are leaving, through a feedback link on its site. That is optional and does not affect the cancellation.
