Official Absa hospital cover route

Absa’s Health Assistance Cover page says that for claims or queries you should call Absa Life on 0860 227 253. The same page has a “Get quote” and “Call me back” option if you want to take out cover.

Health Assistance Cover support

Health Assistance Cover is a hospital cash benefit. What Absa says it offers:

• Up to R1 000 cash for every day you and your spouse are hospitalised.
• An extra 50% of the chosen benefit for admission to ICU or high care, up to the regulatory maximum.
• Immediate cover for accidents.
• The payout goes into your account after you are discharged.

Eligibility and policy requirements

The cover can include you, your spouse, children under 25 and up to four parents. Absa states clearly that Health Assistance is not a medical scheme and is not a substitute for medical scheme membership, so it will not pay your hospital bills the way medical aid does. The insurer is Absa Life Limited, registration number 1992/001738/06, an authorised financial services provider (FSP 36116) with insurer licence I121.
