Absa Vehicle Insurance Contact Details

Verified 16 September 2026Official source onlyIndependent directoryReport a wrong number

Which Absa vehicle insurance number you need depends on how your car is insured. Absa Activate policies use 0860 222 762, with emergencies on Activate Assist 0800 046 637; idirect car policies use 0860 20 21 22, which Absa lists as open 24 hours; and other Absa Insurance Company car policies use 0860 100 876. Roadside assistance for Absa Insurance Company policies is 0861 434 732. We read these details on Absa’s car insurance, third-party insurance, Activate and claims pages on absa.co.za on 16 September 2026.

ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory and does not sell or administer Absa insurance. We cannot send roadside help or register a claim for you.

Absa prints Glasfit’s number two ways: 0860 123 423 on its claims and contents insurance pages and 0860 123 432 on the comprehensive car insurance page. Its Talk to us directory also lists a separate car insurance line, 0860 111 630, with the general mailbox absa@absa.co.za.

On the How to submit a claim page, every insurance number shares one set of hours, 08:00 to 16:30 on weekdays, yet the car and contents pages call the idirect line a 24-hour service. Claims can also be lodged in the Absa Banking App Insurance hub, on Absa Online, in the Activate App or on the self-service portal at insurance.absa.africa.

Product or service support

Absa Insurance Company Limited (FSP 8030) is the insurer behind these policies. Its call centre comprehensive policy covers theft, fire, hail, floods and accidents, as well as towing and storage, medical expenses and liability to third parties, with flat excesses, no excess on windscreen chip repairs, optional car hire and an open driver policy. Lower levels of cover are third party, fire and theft, or third party only, which Absa calls the minimum cover a car needs. Third-party policies can include Home Drive, a designated-driver service with up to six drivers per policy, and Road Guard, which sends an armed guard if you break down somewhere unsafe.

Activate is the app-based policy. Anyone driving the car is covered, and a free telematics device is fitted once at least one premium has been paid. Good driving earns up to 40% cash back each month, plus a further 10% if the premium debit order runs from an Absa account. Absa’s car insurance page also has a finder for its approved repair providers.

Eligibility, account or policy requirements

Absa says Activate telematics data is not used to approve or reject claims, and it charges R600 to rebook a missed installation. Activate does not insure motorcycles, caravans or trailers; for those, its FAQ refers you to Absa Insurance Company on 0860 20 21 22. To start a digital vehicle inspection on absa.co.za you need your policy number.

After an accident, Activate’s FAQ says not to leave the scene unless an ambulance takes you to hospital, to report the incident to the police within 24 hours and to notify Absa within 31 days. It will not refund towing or other services you arrange yourself without prior authorisation from its emergency call centre, so call first.
