For Absa household (home contents) insurance, call Absa idirect on 0860 20 21 22 or Absa Activate on 0860 222 762. Contents cover at Absa is sold by Absa Insurance Company Limited (FSP 8030) through these two channels: idirect, a call-centre product for car, building, contents and portable possessions, and Activate, an app-based product for car, home and household contents.

Official Absa household insurance route
Choose the channel that matches your policy. If you have, or want, idirect cover, phone 0860 20 21 22 or email idirect@absa.co.za. You can also fill in the call-me-back form on the idirect page and a consultant will call you at a convenient time. Existing idirect customers who need to change a policy can email iDirectamendments@absa.co.za.
Activate is managed in its app. If you need to speak to someone, call 0860 222 762 during office hours (08:00 to 16:30, Mondays to Fridays) or email activateadmin@absa.africa. New customers can get a quote online at afs.absa.co.za/activate/getproducts.
Product and claims support
Absa idirect covers car, building, contents and portable possessions through a personalised call centre. Activate’s contents cover includes:
- accidental and unforeseen damage
- natural disasters, including power surges and lightning
- theft and break-ins
- weather damage
Activate also adds 24-hour electrical, plumbing and emergency assistance, a fixed excess, and security guards for up to five days after a break-in. For an emergency, call the Activate Assist line on 0800 046 637. To claim without the app, email activateclaims@absa.africa and a call centre agent will call you back.
Eligibility and policy requirements
Activate does not cover motorcycles, caravans or trailers. Absa asks you to call Absa Insurance Company on 0860 20 21 22 for those.
When you email Absa about an Activate policy, include your policy number in the subject line for a quicker response.
Escalation route
Absa Insurance Company’s Customer Care Desk takes written complaints, and you can reach it by calling 0860 111 665. Have your policy number and any claim reference ready.
