To get an MFC settlement figure without phoning, SMS S, a space and your ID number to 31795, or email selfservice@mfc.co.za with “S” and your ID number as the subject line. The SMS returns the figure and the email returns a settlement letter. If the system cannot answer, MFC refers you to its Service Centre on 0860 879 900. We read this on mfc.co.za and personal.nedbank.co.za on 16 September 2026.
ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory and is not MFC or Nedbank. We cannot see a finance account or issue a settlement letter.
Official task/support route
| What it is for | Contact |
|---|---|
| Settlement figure by SMS (R1.50 per SMS) | S, a space and your ID number (for example “S 8888820001777”) to 31795 |
| Settlement letter by email | selfservice@mfc.co.za, subject “S” space ID number, body left blank |
| Outstanding balance instead of settlement | Same SMS number or mailbox, using B instead of S |
| Settlement online, any time | Nedbank Money app or Online Banking, logged in with your Nedbank ID and with the MFC account linked |
| When self-service fails: MFC Service Centre | 0860 879 900 (Mon to Fri 08:00 to 16:30, Sat 08:00 to 12:00) |
| MFC Contact Centre, as listed by Nedbank | 084 196 4473 |
| Vehicle finance complaints | complaints@mfc.co.za or the MFC Compliments or complaints form |
Your outstanding balance is not your settlement amount. MFC says the balance includes interest for the rest of the term plus arrears or extra payments, so ask for S, not B, when you want to pay the car off. MFC does not publish how long a settlement figure stays valid or a separate settlement phone line.
What you need before contacting
- Your ID number, typed with the letter and one space in front of it.
- The cellphone number or email address MFC has on record. The system checks the sender against it, and sends the answer only to the details on record.
- An account at least 6 months old and not in arrears. Otherwise the automatic reply says the service centre will respond instead.
- Your 11-digit MFC finance account number for paying the settlement.
- A Nedbank ID if you want the figure in the Money app or Online Banking.
- For a private sale: a signed written agreement with the buyer’s verified ID details.
Step-by-step contact process
- From the registered cellphone, SMS S and your ID number to 31795, or from the registered email address send a blank email to selfservice@mfc.co.za with S and your ID number in the subject line only.
- If you prefer to log in, register a Nedbank ID, then in the Money app tap More, Settings, Account settings and Link accounts, and select the MFC account. Settlements, statements and registration papers are then available there or on Online Banking.
- If the reply says there is no active account for your ID, or that your cellphone number or email address does not match or is missing, call 0860 879 900. To change the cellphone number or email address on record, MFC asks you to visit a Nedbank branch with a copy of your barcoded ID and proof of residence.
- Pay using your 11-digit finance account number as the reference. From another bank’s app, search the approved beneficiaries for “MFC, a division of Nedbank Ltd”. At a Nedbank cash deposit ATM, choose Cardless transaction, then enter MFC account number 1957408367, your cellphone number and your finance account number.
- Selling privately? Confirm the settlement figure with MFC, go with the buyer to the bank for the transfer, send MFC the proof of payment, and do not hand over the car until MFC confirms the funds have cleared.
- Once MFC confirms nothing is owed, arrange collection or delivery of the original NaTIS document. MFC says originals are couriered within 5 to 7 working days.
If you traded the car in at a dealer, MFC’s FAQ says the account stays your responsibility until the dealer actually settles it. MFC also warns that handing a financed car to a company that promises to take over your instalments is illegal, and you remain liable until the account is settled in full.
Escalation route
- MFC requires complaints in writing: use the Compliments or complaints form in the MFC Help Centre, which promises a reply within 1 working day, or email complaints@mfc.co.za.
- Still stuck? Nedbank’s Client Complaints Helpline is 0860 444 000 or +27 11 710 4011 (Mon to Fri 08:00 to 17:00), or clientfeedback@nedbank.co.za. Nedbank gives a reference within 24 hours and aims to resolve complaints within 21 days.
- If you are unhappy with that outcome, appeal to complaintappeals@nedbank.co.za.
- After Nedbank’s feedback you can go to the National Financial Ombud Scheme on 0860 800 900 or info@nfosa.co.za. Nedbank sends credit and lending complaints to the National Credit Regulator, which MFC lists on 0860 627 627.
