SASSA Contact Details
The SASSA contact number is 0800 60 10 11, SASSA’s toll-free call centre for grant enquiries, payment dates, application status and reporting grant fraud. SASSA has no WhatsApp helpline: its only WhatsApp presence is a one-way news channel. The SASSA email address for grant enquiries is GrantEnquiries@sassa.gov.za, and the head office switchboard in Pretoria is 012 400 2000. The numbers and addresses below were read from SASSA’s own contact pages on sassa.gov.za and the SASSA Services Portal on 14 and 26 September 2026. On 4 October 2026 sassa.gov.za would not load, so only the Services Portal details were read again on that date, and this page says where the two sources differ.

SASSA toll-free number and call centre
SASSA’s toll-free number, 0800 60 10 11, is the national call centre and the customer care number SASSA itself points people to. The SASSA Services Portal says to phone it for pay-out dates, the qualifying rules for every government grant, district office addresses and contact numbers, help with what has happened to an application, and reporting fraud or corruption. The portal prints the same number in its header as 0800 60 1011. Whether you search for the SASSA call centre, call center or contact center, it is the same line: SASSA has one national number, not separate ones for each grant.
The call is only free from a landline. The Services Portal notes that toll-free calls apply to calls made from landlines, and that calling from a cellphone may lead to additional costs, so a long hold from a cellphone can use airtime. The SRD site uses the same number for updating the cellphone number linked to an SRD application. Have your ID number ready, plus your application or reference number if you have one, so the agent can find your record.
SASSA WhatsApp number
SASSA has no WhatsApp helpline and no chatbot number, including for the R350 or R370 SRD grant. The only WhatsApp link on sassa.gov.za is an official WhatsApp Channel in the site footer, which is a one-way news broadcast, not a number you can message for help. Its contact pages, its Services Portal and the SRD site list no WhatsApp support number. Numbers shared on social media and in messages claiming to be SASSA WhatsApp lines cannot be checked against SASSA’s own pages, so do not send your ID number, bank details or SRD information to them. SASSA’s published channels are 0800 60 10 11, GrantEnquiries@sassa.gov.za, srd.sassa.gov.za and services.sassa.gov.za. Suspected grant fraud can be reported on 0800 60 10 11.
One caution about SASSA’s own website: the footer shows GrantEnquiries@sassa.gov.za and 0800 60 10 11 as text, but the tap-to-email and tap-to-call links behind them are coded to different, wrong destinations. Type the email address and number yourself rather than tapping those footer links.
SASSA email address for grant enquiries
SASSA’s national enquiry email address is GrantEnquiries@sassa.gov.za. It is the address printed on SASSA’s head office contact page and in its website footer, and SASSA’s Grant Customer Support Request form is sent to this mailbox. The SASSA Services Portal spells the national mailbox GrantsEnquiries@sassa.gov.za, with an “s”, so if a message to one bounces, try the other. The sassa.gov.za spelling could not be re-read on 4 October 2026 because the site was down; the portal spelling was confirmed that day. Put your full name, ID number and a cellphone number in the message so SASSA can trace your grant.
The portal also lists a grant enquiries mailbox for each province, which is the better address when your query is about a specific regional or local office:

The SASSA head office contact number is 012 400 2000, the switchboard landline in Pretoria. The SASSA Services Portal lists a different head office line, 012 400 2322, next to the toll-free number, so if one does not answer, try the other. The 012 400 2000 number comes from SASSA’s Head Office and Regional Contacts page, which could not be opened on 4 October 2026; the 012 400 2322 number was on the portal that day.
The head office address is SASSA House, 501 Prodinsa Building, Cnr Steve Biko and Pretorius Streets, Pretoria, 0083, and the postal address is Private Bag X55662, Arcadia, Pretoria, 0083. The Services Portal still prints the corner under the older street name, Beatrix and Pretorius Street; it is the same building. Head office handles national matters; grant queries are usually faster through the toll-free line or your local office.

The SASSA Services Portal still carries an older set of regional numbers and addresses (for example 011 241 8320 for Gauteng and Golden Acre for the Western Cape), so if one number does not answer, the other may. Only the Free State number is the same in both lists. Regional offices manage the province; for an individual grant, start with the toll-free line or your local office.
SASSA complaints contact number and email
SASSA does not publish a separate complaints hotline. Complaints, enquiries and compliments go through these official routes:
- Grant Support Request on the SASSA Services Portal: log in at services.sassa.gov.za, choose Grant Support Request on the home page, complete the form and submit it. The portal sends you a reference number, which SASSA advises you to keep.
- Grant Customer Support Request form: download it from sassa.gov.za, type the details (SASSA says it must not be completed by pen) and email it to GrantEnquiries@sassa.gov.za.
- By phone: call 0800 60 10 11, which is also SASSA’s grants and fraud hotline.
- SRD grant declined: the SRD site says you can appeal to the Department of Social Development for each month your application was declined, through the appeal link on srd.sassa.gov.za.
SASSA local offices: Port Elizabeth, Ennerdale, Sebokeng, Duncan Village and Centurion
SASSA’s Service Offices page lists every local office by province, district and municipality, but it does not give a phone number or street address for each one. SASSA says the toll-free line, 0800 60 10 11, can give you district office addresses and contact numbers. From that list:
- Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha): Nelson Mandela Bay has local offices in Port Elizabeth, Walmer, Zwide, Bethelsdorp, KwaNobuhle, Uitenhage and Motherwell. The Eastern Cape regional office is on 043 707 6300.
- Duncan Village: a Buffalo City local office, alongside Mdantsane 1 and 2, King William’s Town, Zwelitsha and East London. Eastern Cape region, 043 707 6300.
- Ennerdale: a City of Johannesburg local office in the Gauteng region, 011 241 8300. Nearby City of Johannesburg offices include Eldorado Park and Orange Farm.
- Sebokeng: listed under Emfuleni in the Sedibeng district, Gauteng region, 011 241 8300.
- Centurion: SASSA’s list has no office named Centurion. The City of Tshwane local offices are Pretoria, Temba, Soshanguve, Mamelodi, Ga-Rankuwa/Mabopane, Ekangala and Bronkhorstspruit. Gauteng region, 011 241 8300.
SASSA offices in Durban and Chatsworth
SASSA’s Service Offices list names these eThekwini local offices: Durban, Chatsworth, Clermont, Chesterville, Inanda, KwaMashu, Lamontville, Mpumalanga, Nsimbini, Phoenix, Pinetown, Profit Isaiah Shembe, Umbumbulu, Umlazi, Umnini and Verulam.
The list gives office names, municipalities and ward IDs only. SASSA publishes no street address or phone number for individual Durban offices. Call 0800 60 10 11 for the address and number of the Durban or Chatsworth office, or the KwaZulu-Natal regional office at 1 Bank Street, Pietermaritzburg, on 033 846 3300.
SASSA Cleary Park, Atlantis, Bellville, Eldorado Park and Bronkhorstspruit
SASSA publishes no phone number or address for these local offices. Bronkhorstspruit is listed as a City of Tshwane local office and Eldorado Park as a City of Johannesburg local office (Gauteng region, 011 241 8300). Cleary Park is not named in the Nelson Mandela Bay list (Eastern Cape region, 043 707 6300). The Western Cape section of the Service Offices page is empty, so there are no Atlantis or Bellville entries: use the Western Cape regional office on 021 469 0281 or the toll-free line, 0800 60 10 11.
SASSA working hours
SASSA’s contact pages do not publish opening times for the call centre, regional offices or local offices. Call 0800 60 10 11 before you travel to confirm the hours of the office you plan to visit. The online services at srd.sassa.gov.za and services.sassa.gov.za are available at any time, and the Services Portal lets you book, cancel or reschedule an office appointment.
How to change your cellphone number for the R350 SRD grant
To change the cellphone number linked to your SRD (R350 or R370) application, use the “How can I change my Mobile details” section on srd.sassa.gov.za, which links to the mobile number update page. The SRD site also says that if your number is not the one used to lodge the application, you can call the SASSA call centre on 0800 60 10 11 to update it.
