Liberty Life Insurance Contact Details
Liberty’s life insurance policies (life cover, disability cover, critical illness cover and income protection) are serviced by its Retail Contact Centre on 0860 456 789 or +27 11 558 4871, email info@liberty.co.za. The same line handles claims, and most life insurance claims can also be lodged on Liberty’s digital claims form. New cover is quoted through a Liberty financial adviser. We read these details on liberty.co.za, including the product pages, How to Claim and Complaints pages, on 16 September 2026.
ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory. We are not Liberty, we cannot quote for cover, and we cannot see a policy or the progress of a claim.

Liberty does not publish a separate phone number or mailbox for individual life products, and its contact pages give no call centre hours. A quote request can be made through the “Call me back” form on each product page, after which a Liberty financial adviser contacts you.
Product or service support
Claiming. Liberty’s digital claims form covers funeral claims, death claims on non-retirement products, death claims on retirement annuities, critical illness or dread disease claims, and disability or impairment claims. You register, upload the required documents as you go, and can save the claim and come back to finish it if something is missing. If you are unsure which documents apply, Liberty suggests contacting the Retail Contact Centre before you submit.
What each product pays, according to Liberty:
- Life cover: a lump sum to your beneficiaries, with an Immediate Expenses Benefit of up to R100 000 paid within 48 hours of the life assured’s death, a Funeral Benefit of up to R100 000, and early payment of the full sum assured on a terminal illness diagnosis.
- Disability cover: a once-off, tax-free lump sum for occupational disability or permanent impairment before retirement, and an inflation-linked monthly benefit after retirement.
- Critical illness cover: Living Lifestyle Plus covers more than 150 conditions, including heart attack, cancer and stroke, and cover continues for further unrelated claims.
- Income protection: monthly payments if you cannot work, up to 100% of after-tax income, with an optional Retrenchment Protector of up to R30 000 a month for up to six months.
For an income protection claim, Liberty lists medical records and proof of the income you have lost, and says payments can start about a month after the documents are submitted.
Eligibility, account or policy requirements
Liberty life cover starts at a minimum of R100 000 with no set maximum; the final amount depends on financial underwriting. The main life assured can be aged 15 to 80 at entry, one spouse (married or in a registered union) can be added, a health assessment is required, and Liberty says there is no waiting period. You can choose whole life or term cover, and Liberty states that clients living with HIV can apply.
Disability cover can run for a fixed 5 to 25 years, until retirement age, or for life. Income Protector is open to permanently employed people who contribute to UIF, to self-employed people and partnerships who can prove their income, and to professionals, who may get preferential rates. Liberty’s Impairment Income Benefit is the simpler, cheaper option and is also available to contract workers, homemakers and passive earners.
Liberty Group Limited is a licensed life insurer and authorised financial services provider (FSP 2409), and is part of the Standard Bank Group. Liberty’s pages say benefits, premiums, exclusions and conditions are explained by its financial advisers, so ask for them in writing before you sign.
