Liberty Life is the life insurance side of Liberty. Liberty does not publish a separate contact centre for it β€” its life products are serviced on the same general enquiries, claims and servicing line as the rest of its retail book. This page covers what that means in practice for a life policy.

Official contact channels

Liberty publishes no life-only telephone number, so anyone offering one is not quoting the official source. State that you are calling about a life policy at the start so the call is routed correctly within the contact centre.

What this organisation provides

The name is also a source of confusion worth clearing up. Liberty Life is not a separate company contacted separately β€” it is how the life insurance business within Liberty is commonly referred to, and Liberty services it under the same retail contact structure as its other personal products.

Liberty’s life range covers life cover, critical illness, disability cover and income protection, with estate planning alongside them. These are long-term contracts, sometimes running for decades, and the practical contact issues reflect that: beneficiary nominations that were never updated, premiums that lapsed during a change of bank account, and policies whose existence the family did not know about.

Claims on a life policy are handled through the same number, and Liberty’s self-service portal lists claims as one of the functions it supports, along with policy documents and tax certificates.

Address and operating information

Liberty publishes no operating hours for its contact centre and no walk-in address on its contact page. The self-service portal and WhatsApp are described as available anytime, so document retrieval outside business hours goes through those rather than the phone.

Because life cover is frequently sold through a financial adviser, note that Liberty’s self-service portal includes financial adviser details. If you have lost touch with the adviser who sold the policy, that is where to look rather than trying to trace them independently.

Support and escalation routes

Disclosure at application matters more on life cover than on most products. Answers about health, occupation and smoking form part of the contract and can be revisited at claim stage years later, so a detail recorded incorrectly is worth correcting now rather than leaving for an assessor to find.

Keep the policy number and the identity number of the life assured together somewhere the family can find them. Ask for a reference on any claim or complaint, and request written confirmation of beneficiary changes rather than relying on a verbal assurance.

Unresolved long-term insurance complaints can be escalated to the National Financial Ombud Scheme after Liberty’s internal process has run. Where the policy sits inside a retirement fund rather than being an individual contract, the Pension Funds Adjudicator is the correct body instead.
