Nedbank Vehicle Insurance Contact Details

Nedbank sells car cover as part of its short-term insurance, alongside home and personal belongings. Nedbank publishes five different insurance mailboxes, and only one of them handles a vehicle claim. Sending car claim documents to the wrong address is the most common way one of these claims stalls.

Official provider route

  • Claims and enquiries: 0800 333 111
  • Documents for a car, home or personal belongings claim: insurance@nedbank.co.za
  • From outside South Africa: +27 10 217 4076
  • Personal insurance hours: Monday to Friday 06:00 to 18:00, Saturday 07:00 to 15:00, Sunday 10:00 to 14:00. Business insurance runs Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:30.

The personal line is open seven days a week and starts at 06:00 on weekdays, which is earlier than most bank lines. That matters after an early morning accident.

Product or service support

These are the four other Nedbank insurance mailboxes and what they are actually for. None of them is the route for a vehicle claim:

  • claims@nedbankinsurance.co.za is for life cover and credit life claims, submitted by the beneficiary or policy owner.
  • funeralclaims@nedbankinsurance.co.za is for funeral cover. Nedbank states it aims to pay within 30 minutes of receiving all documents.
  • travelclaims@brytesa.com is for travel insurance, which is not a Nedbank address at all. Travel claims are on 0860 8856 201 locally or +1 416 596 002 from abroad, and that international number is a North American one because the travel assistance is run by a separate provider.
  • Callme@nedbankinsurance.co.za is for business insurance claims.

If you receive a cash settlement and need repairs done, Nedbank publishes a curated list of contractors and service providers rather than assigning one to you.

Eligibility, account or policy requirements

  • The claim process is three steps: log the claim by downloading and completing the relevant form or by calling 0800 333 111, submit the documents Nedbank requests to the address it gives you, then wait for assessment.
  • Use the form for your product. Nedbank splits its claim forms into two groups, one for life, funeral and credit life, and another for short-term, travel and business. Vehicle cover sits in the short-term group.
  • Send documents only to the address Nedbank gives you when logging the claim. The five mailboxes are product-specific and are not interchangeable.

Escalation route

  • If Nedbank rejects the claim or disputes the amount, you have 90 days from the date of its written communication to write to insurance@nedbank.co.za setting out why the decision should change. This is a formal internal review, not an informal complaint, and the 90 day clock runs from Nedbank written decision.
  • If Nedbank still rejects the claim after that review, you may take it to the National Financial Ombud on 0860 800 900 or info@nfosa.co.za. You must do this within 180 days of the date Nedbank responded to your written representations.
  • Missing either deadline is the most likely reason a valid dispute cannot be pursued, so diarise both dates when you receive a rejection.
  • General banking complaints, as opposed to insurance claim disputes, go to the Nedbank Client Complaints Helpline on 0860 444 000 or clientfeedback@nedbank.co.za.
