Absa Life Insurance Contact Details
Absa Life Limited, the life insurer in the Absa group, takes queries and claims on 0860 227 253, and claim forms with supporting documents go to lifeclaims@absa.co.za. Instant Life, which Absa Life underwrites, has separate numbers. Absa’s claims page lists its insurance lines as open on weekdays from 08:00 to 16:30. We read these details on Absa’s life insurance, how to claim, Instant Life and Talk to us pages on absa.co.za on 16 September 2026.
ContactDetails.co.za runs as an independent directory and is not Absa Life. We cannot see a policy, confirm a beneficiary or process a claim.

Absa Life does not list a separate walk-in office. Its pages direct people to Absa branches, and the Absa group’s head office is Absa Towers West, 15 Troye Street, Johannesburg.
Product or service support
Absa Life Limited (registration 1992/001738/06) is licensed to conduct life insurance business (licence I121) and is an authorised financial services provider, FSP 36116. Its products are the Flexi Funeral Plan, Instant Life cover of up to R6 million for death, disability and critical illness, the Credit Protection Plan on loans and cards, Health Assistance Cover, which pays cash for time in hospital, and free accidental death cover for SAPay users.
Absa’s deceased estates guide says underwritten life cover claims take about 25 working days once documents are in. Claims linked to Covid-19 are not excluded as a category, Absa states, and fall under the normal policy terms.
Eligibility, account or policy requirements
Each claim type has its own form and document list. Absa asks that copies be certified, and its assessors may request more:
- Death: the claim form, death certificate, the life insured’s ID, the four-page DHA-1663 notification of death, beneficiaries’ IDs and a bank statement under three months old, the letter of executorship and executor’s ID, proof of address for all claimants, and for an unnatural death the police statement, post-mortem report and body identification statement.
- Disability: form Absa 7341 EX, your ID, all medical and specialist reports and your employer’s letter ending employment on grounds of ill health.
- Critical illness: form Absa 7340 EX, your ID and all supporting medical reports.
- Health assistance: the full hospital invoice, admission and discharge summary, IDs and proof of address, plus accident or paramedic reports where relevant.
Keep your details and your beneficiaries’ details current. Absa explains that a benefit it cannot pay, because no claim was submitted or the claimant cannot be reached, stays unclaimed until someone entitled to it comes forward, and that tracing claimants can carry administrative costs.
Escalation route
- Send outstanding documents to the claims mailbox for your claim type and quote the policy number in every email.
- If a claim is delayed or declined, call 0860 227 253 and ask for the reason in writing.
- Absa’s group-wide complaints desk, the Complaint Resolution Suite, is the next stop: actionline@absa.co.za or 0800 41 41 41.
- Life insurance disputes that Absa Life does not resolve fall under the National Financial Ombud Scheme, reachable on 0860 800 900 or info@nfosa.co.za.
