OUTsurance does not publish a procurement or supply chain telephone number or mailbox on its own website. The published routes for reaching the company are client care on 08 600 70 000, sales on 08 600 60 000 and cc@out.co.za, and from outside South Africa +27 12 673 3000. None of these is a buyer, and what OUTsurance publishes for prospective suppliers is paperwork rather than a line: the technical requirements a service provider has to meet, and the enterprise and supplier development programme it runs.

Client care handles policies, and compliance handles regulatory complaints. If your query is about becoming a supplier, expect to be pointed back at the application documents rather than transferred.
What OUTsurance requires from a service provider
The buildings and related contractor technical requirements document published on the OUTsurance site sets out what a prospective contractor must produce. It is a useful checklist even if you supply something else, because it shows the standard of compliance paperwork the insurer expects.
- A valid SANAS-accredited construction sector B-BBEE certificate, VAT registration certificate and CIPC certificate
- A tax clearance certificate, or a deferred payment agreement with SARS
- A bank confirmation letter for the business, not older than three months, and registration for workmen compensation
- Product liability and public liability insurance policies, and a minimum one-year warranty on workmanship
- Full-time admin staff who are computer literate and can acknowledge claims, draft reports and invoice through an online process
Trade-specific registration is required on top of that. Plumbers must be registered with the Department of Employment and Labour and with the PIRB or the IPA, and must be able to issue a Certificate of Compliance. Builders need registration with Master Builders South Africa or the NHBRC. Electrical businesses must be registered with the department and employ a qualified electrician holding a wireman licence. Applicants complete a self-assessment form, and OUTsurance states that only providers demonstrating full adherence are considered.
Kwande, the enterprise and supplier development programme
OUTsurance runs an enterprise and supplier development programme called Kwande, established in April 2019, aimed at small and medium enterprises aligned to its value chain: panel beaters, towing businesses, builders, plumbers, electricians and other artisans. It offers mentorship, access to markets within the OUTsurance supply chain, business development support and funding, with loan and grant funding facilitated through the ASISA ESD Fund. The programme page on the OUTsurance site is where applications are described.
A warning about procurement approaches
Supplier onboarding is a favourite pretext for fraud in both directions. Nobody at a legitimate insurer asks a prospective supplier for a fee to be listed on a panel, and no genuine supplier is asked to change a client banking detail by email. If you receive either, report it.
OUTsurance publishes a fraud line on 08 601 02 117 and reportfraud@out.co.za, an email scam address at reportscams@out.co.za, and an independently managed whistleblowing line on 0800 204 855 or outsurance@tip-offs.com.
Frequently asked questions
What is the OUTsurance procurement contact number?
OUTsurance does not publish a procurement or supply chain telephone number or mailbox on its own website. The published numbers are client care on 08 600 70 000 and sales on 08 600 60 000, and neither is a buyer, so a supplier query is pointed back at the application documents.
How do I apply to become an OUTsurance service provider?
Work through the documents OUTsurance publishes: the buildings and related contractor technical requirements set out the compliance paperwork, applicants complete a self-assessment form, and only providers demonstrating full adherence are considered. Small and medium enterprises aligned to the value chain can apply through the Kwande programme page, where applications are described.
Who do I report a fake OUTsurance procurement offer to?
Use the fraud line on 08 601 02 117 or reportfraud@out.co.za, or reportscams@out.co.za for an email scam. Nobody at a legitimate insurer asks a prospective supplier for a fee to be listed on a panel.
