Which Absa car insurance do you have?
Absa sells car insurance through three routes, and each has its own contact details. Absa Activate is fully digital: you get a quote and buy online, then manage your policy, trips, rewards and claims in the Activate App. Absa Insurance Company car insurance is sold through a personalised call centre. Absa idirect is a separate direct insurance brand. Your policy schedule or welcome documents show which one you have. Absa Insurance Company Limited is a licensed non-life insurer and authorised financial services provider (FSP 8030).
Contacting Absa Activate
Activate’s FAQ says to call 0860 222 762 during office hours, 08:00 to 16:30 on weekdays, or email activateadmin@absa.africa with your policy number in the subject line for a quick response. You can also send queries in the Activate App under Menu, then Contact us, and Activate asks you to allow two business days for feedback, including your policy and ID or passport number. In a home, medical or roadside emergency, use the Emergency button in the Activate App or call 0860 222 762. Activate does not cover motorcycles, caravans or trailers; for those, Absa’s FAQ says to call Absa Insurance Company on 0860 20 21 22.
Activate car insurance is an open driver policy, and Absa says you can earn up to 40% cash back in monthly rewards for good driving, plus an extra 10% for Absa clients, using a free telematics device installed once a premium has been paid. It also includes tracking if your car is stolen or hijacked, and 24-hour emergency assistance.
Absa idirect call back
On Absa’s idirect page, you can fill in your name, surname, contact number, the insurance you want (car, home, or car and home) and a convenient contact time, and a consultant will call you back. Or call Absa Insurance Company for idirect policies on 0860 20 21 22, or email idirect@absa.co.za.
Claims, roadside help and vehicle inspections
You can register a car insurance claim online through Absa’s self-service portal or the Insurance hub in the Absa Banking App, or by phone. Absa Insurance Company’s car cover lists 24-hour emergency roadside and accident assistance, a jumpstart service, optional car hire, flat excesses regardless of your claim, and no excess for windscreen chip repairs. For a digital vehicle inspection, you need your policy number to start the self-inspection on Absa’s website. Absa advertises discounts of up to 30% when you insure with Absa Insurance Company.
