The Unlimited publishes separate claim guidance for each type of cover it sells, and reading the right one before you phone is what determines whether a claim moves on the first call. There are five published claim routes — accident cash, accidental death, natural death, GAP and warranty — each with its own document requirements. They all go to the same number, 0861 990 000, so the number is never the problem; having the wrong paperwork is. The other thing worth knowing is that this line runs Monday to Saturday, 07:00 to 19:00 only. A death claim raised on a Sunday will have to wait for Monday unless you use the WhatsApp chatbot, which runs continuously. All details below come from The Unlimited’s own website.

Product or service support

The Unlimited publishes a starting monthly price for each product, which makes it straightforward to identify which cover you hold: Motor Warranty from R429 a month, Scratch and Dent from R149, Tyre and Rim from R159, Medical Insurance from R672, GAP Cover from R369, Death Cover from R150, Legal Cover from R179, and a bundled My Unlimited product from R99. Its GAP cover is described as available to all government employees and as providing up to R185 800 extra per year towards medical aid gaps and expenses. Knowing which of these you hold, and its claim type, is the first thing an agent will establish.
