Budget Insurance contact number and customer care
Budget lists 0861 60 01 20 as its telephone number for new and existing customer sales, services and claims, so there is no separate Budget customer service number to look for. Whether you want a quote, a change to your cover or a premium query answered, you phone the same line and choose the option you need. This is the Budget Insurance contact number for South Africa as a whole: Budget operates from the Auto & General Park campus in Dainfern and serves customers nationally through the same numbers, including in Cape Town. Have your policy number or ID number ready before you call.
Budget Insurance operating hours
Budget publishes two sets of working hours (opening times) for 0861 60 01 20, and the difference matters if you already have a policy:

So if you call at 18:30 on a weekday, or on a public holiday, you can buy a policy but you cannot get help with an existing one. To change cover, query a premium or follow up a claim, call on a weekday before 17:00 or on a Saturday morning. These are the only trading hours Budget publishes for its call centre. The emergency assistance line, 0860 10 42 11, is the only number Budget lists as available 24 hours.
Budget Insurance WhatsApp number
Budget’s contact page does not list a WhatsApp number. The channels it publishes are the phone lines, the two email addresses, the call-back form and your online account. If a message claiming to be from Budget arrives on WhatsApp asking for payment or banking details, check it by calling 0861 60 01 20 yourself.
Budget Insurance email address
Budget publishes only two email addresses on its contact page, and each has a narrow purpose. policyservices@budgetins.co.za is for a compliment or a complaint, and disputeresolution@budgetins.co.za is for claims disputes. There is no general admin or procurement mailbox, and neither address is labelled as a cancellation email address, so a cancellation is done by telephone as set out below. Include your policy number, the dates involved and any reference you were given when you write.
Budget Insurance toll free number and call me back
Budget does not have a toll-free number. Budget’s numbers start with 0860 and 0861. Those are share-call numbers, not toll-free numbers, so the call is charged. If you would rather not pay to wait on hold, use the “Let us call you” form on the contact page: enter your name, contact number and the reason for the call, and Budget calls you back. Budget’s About Us page also has a “Call me back” button. Budget does not publish a please-call-me SMS or USSD number, so the call-back route is the web form.
Budget Insurance claims and emergency number
A Budget Insurance claim is reported on 0861 60 01 20, the same line as any other policy query, within support hours. If your car has broken down or been in an accident, or you have a home emergency, call the 24-hour emergency roadside and home assistance line on 0860 10 42 11 first; it is also linked from the “Get Emergency Help” button on Budget’s site. Keep your policy number and the details of the incident ready. Budget lists no separate breakdown or towing number: roadside help, including towing, is on the emergency assistance line 0860 10 42 11. If Budget turns down a claim or you disagree with how it was settled, email disputeresolution@budgetins.co.za. That address is specifically for claims disputes, which is a different route from a general complaint about service.
Budget Insurance cancellation
To cancel a Budget Insurance policy, call customer services on 0861 60 01 20 during support hours. Budget’s FAQ says a policy can be cancelled without any period of notice, or with notice for a future date. Notice can be given over the telephone, and Budget confirms the cancellation in writing. Premiums are paid monthly in advance, so there is no pro rata refund for cancelling mid-month. Budget does not publish an online cancellation form. Budget Insurance self-inspection (vehicle inspection)
Budget Insurance does not send you to a vehicle inspection centre. Whatever type of car insurance you have with Budget, you do your own car inspection online from your Budget profile at policy.budgetinsurance.co.za/login/. You need a cellphone that takes decent photos, an internet connection and about 15 minutes.
- Step 1: register a Budget Insurance online profile using your personal and policy details.
- Step 2: log in, go to the section where you manage your profile, then open the car inspection page.
- Step 3: follow the guide and upload clear photos of the car from different angles, ideally in daylight.
- Step 4: note any existing damage and capture the mileage, after-market accessories and sound system details.
- Step 5: the inspection is complete.
Budget says you need to complete the inspection for your cover to be fully active, within a specific time after you take out the policy; its inspection page does not state the number of days. A second self-inspection may be needed when you claim, depending on the claim. Budget publishes no inspection phone number, email address or list of inspection centres, so if you cannot finish the inspection online, call customer services on 0861 60 01 20 during support hours.
Budget Insurance login and self-service
The official Budget Insurance website is budgetinsurance.co.za (www.budgetinsurance.co.za), and the policyholder login is at policy.budgetinsurance.co.za/login/. Existing customers can log in to their Budget account to add or remove cover and download documents such as a policy schedule, without calling. This is the quickest option outside support hours, since the online account does not depend on the call centre being open.
Budget Insurance manage my policy
The “Manage your policy” link in the footer of Budget’s website goes to the same policyholder login, policy.budgetinsurance.co.za/login/. Budget says existing customers can log in there to add or remove cover, download documents and more, and the car self-inspection is done from the same profile. What Budget Insurance covers in South Africa
Budget sells car insurance (comprehensive, third party fire and theft, and third party only), car add-ons including a car warranty and scratch and dent cover, home contents, building and portable possessions insurance, motorcycle and specialised vehicle cover, business insurance, and life, funeral, personal accident and legal cover. Budget value-added products (VAP) contact
Budget’s value-added products are Scratch & Dent, Tyre & Rim Cover, Personal Accident, Auto Top-Up Plus, Vehicle Warranty, Legal Cover and Funeral Plan.
