The Budget Insurance contact number is 0861 60 01 20. Budget uses this one number for new quotes, for existing policyholders’ service queries, and for claims. For 24-hour emergency roadside and home assistance, including breakdowns, call 0860 10 42 11. Complaints and compliments go to policyservices@budgetins.co.za, and disputes about a claim decision go to disputeresolution@budgetins.co.za. Budget Insurance operating hours
Budget publishes two sets of hours for 0861 60 01 20, and the difference matters if you already have a policy:

So if you call at 18:30 on a weekday, or on a public holiday, you can buy a policy but you cannot get help with an existing one. To change cover, query a premium or follow up a claim, call on a weekday before 17:00 or on a Saturday morning. The emergency assistance line, 0860 10 42 11, is the only number Budget lists as available 24 hours.
Budget Insurance claims and emergency number
Budget lists 0861 60 01 20 as the number for new and existing customer sales, services and claims, so a claim is reported on the same line as any other policy query, within support hours. If your car has broken down or been in an accident, or you have a home emergency, call the 24-hour emergency roadside and home assistance line on 0860 10 42 11 first; it is also linked from the “Get Emergency Help” button on Budget’s site. Keep your policy number and the details of the incident ready.
If Budget turns down a claim or you disagree with how it was settled, email disputeresolution@budgetins.co.za. That address is specifically for claims disputes, which is a different route from a general complaint about service.
Does Budget Insurance have a WhatsApp number?
Budget’s contact page does not list a WhatsApp number. The channels it publishes are the phone lines, the two email addresses, the call-back form and your online account. If a message claiming to be from Budget arrives on WhatsApp asking for payment or banking details, check it by calling 0861 60 01 20 yourself.
Budget’s numbers start with 0860 and 0861. Those are share-call numbers, not toll-free numbers, so the call is charged. If you would rather not pay to wait on hold, use the “Let us call you” form on the contact page: enter your name, contact number and the reason for the call, and Budget calls you back.
Budget Insurance login and self-service
Existing customers can log in to their Budget account on budgetinsurance.co.za to add or remove cover and download documents such as a policy schedule, without calling. This is the quickest option outside support hours, since the online account does not depend on the call centre being open.

Include your policy number, the dates involved and any reference you were given. Budget publishes a guide to its complaints handling process, linked from its contact page. If a short-term insurance complaint is still unresolved after Budget’s internal process, the independent National Financial Ombud Scheme handles insurance disputes free of charge, on 0860 800 900 or info@nfosa.co.za.
What Budget Insurance covers
Budget sells car insurance (comprehensive, third party fire and theft, and third party only), car add-ons including a car warranty and scratch and dent cover, home contents, building and portable possessions insurance, motorcycle and specialised vehicle cover, business insurance, and life, funeral, personal accident and legal cover. Queries and claims on all of these start at 0861 60 01 20. Budget operates from the Auto & General Park campus in Dainfern and serves customers nationally through the same numbers, including in Cape Town.
