Complaints and escalation routes

Start with your network or provider’s own complaints channel and get a case or reference number in writing. If it is not resolved within the provider’s stated timeframe, you can escalate to the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA), which regulates telecoms and broadcasting complaints, on 012 568 3000 or consumer@icasa.org.za.

Verifying a telecoms contact before you call

SIM swap fraud and porting scams are common in South Africa. Never share a one-time PIN, SIM swap PIN or online banking OTP with anyone claiming to be from your network, even if the number looks correct. Confirm any support number against your provider’s official app or website before calling back.

FAQs

  • Which telecoms page should I use first? Start with your specific network or ISP’s contact page, then use the fault, complaints or fraud pages if the issue is not resolved.
  • My internet or network is down. Where do I report it? Use the network fault reporting or internet outage pages for your specific provider.
  • Someone swapped my SIM without my permission. What do I do? Contact your network’s fraud line immediately using the number on their official site, then see the SIM swap fraud page.
  • What if my complaint is not resolved? Escalate to ICASA once you have given your provider a fair chance to respond in writing.
