Absa Contact Details

Verified 12 October 2026Official source onlyIndependent directoryPublished by Silas T Nkoana, Cape TownReport a wrong number

The Absa contact number for general enquiries is 08600 08600, the main Absa call centre and helpline, answered seven days a week from 08:00 to 17:00. The Absa email address for enquiries is absa@absa.co.za. Two emergency lines run 24 hours a day: lost or stolen cards on 0800 111 155 (or +27 11 501 5050) and the fraud hotline on 0860 557 557, which Absa also lists as a WhatsApp chat with its Fraud Team. Complaints go to the Complaint Resolution Suite on 0800 41 41 41 or actionline@absa.co.za, and the head office switchboard is +27 11 350 4000.

Beyond those, Absa gives most products their own line, and calling the right one gets you to a team that can see that account. The numbers on this page were read from Absa’s Talk to Us page and product pages on absa.co.za, first on 14 September 2026 and most recently on 12 October 2026.

Absa call centre and customer care hours

The Absa customer service and call centre number for everyday customer care is 08600 08600. It is the line for general enquiries about accounts, cards and digital banking, and it is answered seven days a week from 08:00 to 17:00, so the customer service closing time is 17:00. Have your ID number and account number ready before you call. Most product lines, such as home loans, credit cards and insurance, follow office hours, and Absa does not state hours for many of them.

Is there a 24-hour Absa helpline?

Yes, for emergencies. If you are looking for an Absa 24 hour helpline number, the lost and stolen card line (0800 111 155) and the fraud hotline (0860 557 557) both run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as does the line for digital banking help when you are overseas (+27 11 501 5110). The general enquiries line closes at 17:00.

Absa toll free numbers

Numbers starting with 0800 are toll-free from South African landlines; 0860 and 0861 numbers are charged. On this page the 0800 lines are lost or stolen cards (0800 111 155), complaints (0800 41 41 41) and business current accounts (0800 227 592). The main helpline, 08600 08600, is not an 0800 number.

Absa email address for enquiries

The official email Absa prints for general customer service is absa@absa.co.za, the same mailbox it lists next to 08600 08600. Complaints have their own mailbox, actionline@absa.co.za, and suspicious or phishing emails that claim to come from Absa should be forwarded to secmon@absa.co.za. Product teams have separate addresses, listed in the tables and sections below, and a message sent to the right one avoids being passed along. Do not put PINs, passwords or one-time passwords in an email to any of them.

Absa fraud line, scam helpline and lost card numbers

If a card is missing, block it first and ask questions later: call 0800 111 155, or +27 11 501 5050 from abroad. To report fraud or a scam, call the fraud hotline on 0860 557 557, or +27 11 501 5089 from outside South Africa. You can also report fraud in the Absa Banking App by tapping the telephone icon and choosing “Call me back”, after which a consultant calls you. Absa’s fraud number is a line you call, not one that should call you asking for PINs or one-time passwords.

For online card purchases that will not verify, the 3D Secure call centre is on +27 11 354 4058.

Absa transactional fraud email address

Absa does not publish a transactional fraud email address on its Talk to Us, Safety and security or phishing pages. Its published fraud routes are the 24-hour fraud hotline on 0860 557 557, the “Call me back” option in the Banking App, and a mailbox for phishing emails. Absa’s phishing page prints that mailbox two ways: secmon@absa.co.za under Need more help, and Secmon@absa.africa in the instruction to send the suspicious email as an attachment.

Absa WhatsApp number and online chat

Absa does not print one general WhatsApp number for customer service on its Talk to Us page. It lists WhatsApp for two specific jobs. The first is fraud: Absa’s App Banking page says you can chat with the Fraud Team 24/7 on WhatsApp on 0860 557 557. The second is funeral cover, which can be managed on WhatsApp on 0860 227 253: add the number as a contact and say “Hi”.

The Talk to Us page we read lists no web chat for general enquiries either. Apart from the two WhatsApp chats above, the written routes are email, the Send us your feedback form on absa.co.za, and the “Call me back” option in the Banking App.

Absa complaints: Action Line email and contact number

Absa handles complaints through its Complaint Resolution Suite, on 0800 41 41 41 on weekdays from 08:00 to 16:30, or by email to actionline@absa.co.za at any time. You can also use the Send us your feedback form on absa.co.za, choosing Personal Banking or Private and Business Banking and the “I have a complaint about Absa” topic. The same form takes customer care feedback that is not a complaint.

Put your account or policy number, dates, amounts and any previous reference in the first message, because a complaint that starts without them tends to start again.

Absa Action Line email and complaints number

The Absa Action Line is the Complaint Resolution Suite. Its email is actionline@absa.co.za and its phone number is 0800 41 41 41, answered weekdays from 08:00 to 16:30. Home loan complaints use the same mailbox and line.

Absa disputes contact number

Absa does not publish a separate personal banking disputes number. Report unrecognised or fraudulent transactions to the 24-hour fraud hotline on 0860 557 557, and take other disputes and payment queries to the Complaint Resolution Suite on 0800 41 41 41 or actionline@absa.co.za.

Absa head office contact number and address

Absa’s head office is on the 7th Floor, Absa Towers West, 15 Troye Street, Johannesburg, 2001, and the head office contact number is the switchboard on +27 11 350 4000. It is a corporate address, not a service counter, so account problems still go to 08600 08600 or the product line. Journalists should use PRmedia@absa.africa, Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:00.

Absa publishes no HR contact number; jobs are handled through absa.africa/careers, whose only contact is the Group switchboard on +27 11 350 4000. Absa does not list direct phone numbers for individual branches on its contact page, so for branches such as Cresta or Paarl Mall use the Find a branch tool on absa.co.za for the address and trading hours.

Absa Group Limited contact details and postal address

Absa Group Limited and Absa Bank Limited use the same postal address, PO Box 7735, Johannesburg, 2000, and the same registered address on the 7th Floor, Absa Towers West, 15 Troye Street, Johannesburg, 2001. The Group switchboard is +27 11 350 4000 and the Group Company Secretary’s office uses groupsec@absa.co.za. Absa Group Limited’s registration number is 1986/003934/06 and its JSE share code is ABG. The Group site sends all customer queries to the country website, so banking questions still go to 08600 08600.

Absa FSP number

Absa Bank Limited’s FSP licence number is 26/10/292, as printed in its FAIS disclosure. Its company registration number is 1986/004794/06 and it is a registered credit provider, NCRCP7. Other Absa companies have their own numbers: Absa Insurance Company Limited is FSP 8030, Absa Life Limited is FSP 36116, and Absa Stockbrokers and Portfolio Management (Pty) Limited is FSP 45849.

Absa risk management department contact details

Absa publishes no contact for a risk management department on its Talk to Us page or the Group contact page. The nearest published function is the Absa Bank Compliance Department in the FAIS disclosure, on +27 11 350 3658, at 5th Floor, Absa Towers West, 15 Troye Street, Johannesburg, 2001 (PO Box 1313, Johannesburg, 2000). Otherwise use the head office switchboard on +27 11 350 4000.

Absa online banking help and contact number

For Absa online and app banking support, call 08600 08600. If you are outside South Africa, call +27 11 501 5110, a digital banking line that runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Absa also publishes step-by-step online banking guides at absa.co.za/help. Absa Online is reached through the Log in menu on absa.co.za, which also lists eContract among Absa’s secured services. See Absa internet banking contact details for more.

Absa cellphone banking and mobile banking contact number

Absa Cellphone Banking is the USSD service on *120*2272#. For support with Cellphone Banking, the Banking App or mobile banking, call 08600 08600, or +27 11 501 5110 from abroad, which runs 24 hours a day. Absa publishes no cellphone (mobile) number for customer service.

To register, dial *120*2272#, select 1 to accept the terms, enter your South African ID or passport number, then choose a 5-digit PIN. Cellphone Banking gives balances, mini-statements, payments to existing beneficiaries, CashSend, prepaid airtime and electricity, DebiCheck, and viewing and redeeming Absa Rewards.

Absa cash rewards enquiries

Absa Rewards, including Cash Rewards enquiries, is on 0861 78 88 88 or absarewards@absa.co.za. Your Cash Rewards balance shows in the Banking App on the last day of every month, and you redeem it in the Banking App, on Chat Banking or Chat Wallet (WhatsApp), or on USSD Banking, *120*2272#. To update your Rewards details, use Absa’s “Update your details and earn more cash rewards” page at absa.co.za/personal/bank/absa-rewards/tier-update. See Absa Rewards contact details.

Absa retirement annuity and tax free unit trust contacts

Absa’s retirement annuity and tax-free investment account share one team: 0860 222 150 or clientservices.glacier@absa.africa. Absa unit trusts are on 0860 000 005 or aimscc@absa.africa. To start any of them, download and complete the forms on the product page on absa.co.za and email them to that product’s mailbox. Bank savings products stay on 0860 111 515 or saving@absa.co.za. See Absa unit trust contact details.

Absa balance transfer loan

Absa lists Balance Transfer Loans, which consolidate existing debt into a single repayment, among its Private Banking lending products, and prints no dedicated number for them. Use Private Banking on 0860 553 553 or the personal loans line on 0860 100 372, and see Absa consolidation loans contact details.

Absa self-service: cellphone number, card renewal, travel notice and debit orders

Absa handles these four jobs in the Banking App or Absa Online and publishes no dedicated phone line for any of them.

How to change your cellphone number with Absa

In the Absa Banking App, tap your profile photo at the top left, tap Contact Details, tap Edit, add the new number, tap Continue, then tap Save and accept the verification request. When you register the app with AbsaID facial biometrics you can tap “This is not my number” to update it, but only if the facial scan was successful. Outside the app, the routes Absa publishes are general enquiries on 08600 08600 or a branch.

How to renew an Absa credit card or debit card

When a card is about to expire, an orange notification appears on the Cards tab of the Absa Banking App and you can order the new card from there. In Absa Online, go to Settings and, under my card management, click manage next to Reissue cards. The new card is delivered by courier or collected at an Absa branch of your choice; the courier contacts you to arrange delivery and you need proof of identity on the day. In the app you cannot change the delivery address, but you can change the contact number, and Track delivery shows progress. Credit card queries go to 0861 462 273 or contactcard@absa.co.za; see Absa credit card contact details.

How to notify Absa of overseas travel

Give notice in the Absa Banking App: tap Cards, select the card, tap Use card when travelling, select your departure and return dates, tap Activate, accept the verification request and tap Done. Absa’s travel tips say to use the Banking App or Online Banking to notify the Fraud Call Centre of the dates and countries you will visit. Forex and travel banking queries go to 0860 151 151 or forex@absa.co.za. Once abroad, the 24-hour digital banking line is +27 11 501 5110 and the fraud hotline is +27 11 501 5089.

How to track an unknown debit order on your Absa account

To see every debit order on an account, open the Banking App, tap Menu, tap Debit Orders, select the account and look under Recent debit orders; in Absa Online, select Transact, then My Debit Orders. The limit for reversing a debit order online is R500: for a higher amount, email debitorder@absa.co.za or visit a branch. Debit orders older than 40 days cannot be reversed on the app, and stopping a debit order online stops payments for 6 months. See Absa debit orders contact details.

Absa home loans and vehicle finance

Absa bond contact number

The Absa bond department address is not printed separately: Absa bonds are handled by Absa Home Loans on 0860 111 007 or home@absa.co.za, and on +27 11 501 5048 if you are calling from abroad, and the bond department sits in Absa Towers West, the head office address below. See Absa home loans contact details for the full bond department list.

Absa home loans tracker

Absa’s home loan application tracker is the Track my application button on its home loan costs page, absa.co.za/personal/loans/for-a-home/calculate-my-costs, which shows the status of your application and gives access to a saved application. Application queries go to propertyhub@absa.co.za or Absa Home Loans on 0860 111 007. Vehicle finance has its own tracker at absa.co.za/personal/loans/for-a-car/track, which needs your application number and ID number, with help on 0860 669 669.

How to inform Absa of the sale of your house

If you are selling a bonded house, submit a 90-day cancellation notice in the Absa Banking App, in Absa Online or by calling 0860 111 007; Absa then calculates the outstanding balance and appoints a cancellation attorney. With 90 days’ notice you are charged interest only for the relevant number of days, while immediate notice brings early termination fees plus interest for up to 90 days. See Absa bond cancellation contact details.

Interim interest on an Absa building loan

Absa lists no product called an interim mortgage loan; interim interest belongs to the Absa Building Loan. Absa pays a building loan out in six intervals as building progresses and charges monthly interim interest from the date of the first progress payment. If interim interest is not paid each month the final payment is reduced, which could leave too little to complete the home. Building loan applications and queries are on 0860 111 007; see Absa mortgage contact details.

Absa debt relief and secured restructuring email address

For help with bond repayments or secured restructuring, Absa’s home loan debt management team is on 0861 222 272 (+27 11 221 0200 from abroad) or bondrs@absa.africa, Mondays to Fridays 08:00 to 16:30 and Saturdays 08:00 to 13:00. For other debt, the Manage my debt line is 0860 000 786. Absa’s own pages are not consistent here: the Talk to Us page also prints 0860 000 786 against Manage my debt under home loans, and the same number is its Islamic Banking line. See Absa payment relief contact details.

How an Absa payment holiday works if you cannot pay

Absa’s current repayments page does not use the term payment holiday. It offers a short-term payment plan instead: if your home loan is older than nine months, you can apply to pay a reduced repayment for up to six months while a long-term solution is explored. Call 0861 222 272 or email bondrs@absa.africa to apply, and see Absa payment relief contact details.

Two details differ between Absa’s own pages. Its Manage my debt page prints 0861 22 22 72 under Need more help, while Talk to Us prints 0860 000 786 against Manage my debt. Its repayments page prints the mailbox as bondrs@absa.africa, while its home loan costs page prints bondrs@absa.co.za.

Absa AVAF contact and settlement number

Absa Vehicle and Asset Finance (AVAF), Absa’s motor vehicle finance department, is on 0860 669 669. To get a vehicle settlement quote, request it under Documents on the vehicle finance account in Absa Online or the Banking App; Absa emails it within a day and it is valid for six days. See Absa vehicle finance contact details.

How to check your Absa car settlement, loan balance and additional payments

Absa publishes no phone-only balance line for vehicle finance: view the account in the Banking App or Absa Online, or call 0860 669 669 (Islamic Vehicle Finance is on 0860 000 786). For a settlement quote in the app, open the Vehicle Finance Account, tap Documents, then Settlement quote, then Continue. Additional payments show on the account as an advance; once the advance is equal to or more than one instalment, you can use Adjust my vehicle finance to reduce the instalment or the balloon payment, and a confirmation letter follows within three days. See Absa vehicle settlement letter contact details.

Absa car loan credit protection waiting period

Absa does not publish a waiting period for vehicle credit protection on its Credit Protection page, which says individual product terms take precedence, so check your policy schedule or call Absa Life on 0860 227 253.

Absa car service plan price

Absa does not publish service plan prices, and its value-added insurance page lists warranties, tyre and rim cover, and scratch and dent cover, but no service plan. For warranties that page prints 0861 666 488 and absa@innovation.group, while Talk to Us prints 0860 000 786 and absa@za.innovation-group.com against Warranty. See Absa service plan contact details.

Absa Life and insurance contacts

Absa Life cover, funeral cover and credit protection cover share one line, 0860 227 253, with email to polserv@absa.co.za for policy queries. Funeral cover can also be managed on WhatsApp on the same number: add 0860 227 253 as a contact and say “Hi”. Other insurance products have their own numbers:

The Instant Life number above is the one on Absa’s Talk to Us page. Absa’s life claims page shows a different Instant Life number, so check absa.co.za if 0860 000 072 does not get you to the right team.

How to cancel your Absa building insurance

Absa’s Homeowners Comprehensive (HOC) pages do not publish a cancellation procedure or form; the published route is policy queries on 0860 100 876 or adminhoc@absa.co.za, Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:30. If you are cancelling the home loan too, Absa says to keep the home insured until the cancellation is complete. See Absa HOC insurance contact details.

Absa Health Assistance Cover (health insurance)

Health Assistance Cover is a hospital cash plan from Absa Life, on 0860 227 253 for claims and queries. It pays up to R1 000 for every day you or your spouse are in hospital and, in Absa’s words, is not a medical scheme. See Absa hospital plan contact details.

Absa LIPCO and Law For You

Absa’s legal insurance is Law For You; its policy wording defines LAW FOR ALL as LIPCO Group (Pty) Ltd, the underwriting manager and legal services administrator. To open a case, follow up a matter or reach client care, Absa’s page gives 0860 227 257, and the policy wording gives 0861 00 22 86 and legal@lawforall.co.za for using your benefits. See Absa Law For You contact details.

Absa testament, testamentary trust and boedel afdeling (estates)

For an Absa will (testament), call Wills Direct on 0860 627 775. Testamentary and inter vivos trusts are with Absa Trust Services on 0861 238 886, and deceased estates (the boedel afdeling) start at the Estate Intake Centre on 0860 110 287. Absa’s wills page prints absatrust@absa.co.za as the email, while Talk to Us prints absa@absa.co.za against all three. See Absa wills contact details, Absa trust contact details and Absa deceased estates contact details.

Absa travel insurance contact details (Bryte)

Absa travel insurance is provided by Bryte. For cover, top-up and general queries, call Bryte on 0861 227 284 (+27 10 498 7856 from abroad) or email absatravel@brytesa.com, Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 18:00, Friday 08:00 to 17:00 and Saturday 08:00 to 13:00. The line is closed on Sundays and public holidays.

Absa basic travel insurance on a credit card

Absa Visa cardholders get up to 30 days of Automatic Basic Travel Insurance for international trips when the return tickets are bought with the qualifying card. It covers travellers aged 3 months to 74 years, the journey must begin and end in South Africa, and the card must be used at a point of sale or online: EFT payments from the credit card account do not qualify. Absa’s page speaks of a qualifying Absa card and does not name the Gold credit card or a purple card, so confirm with Bryte that yours qualifies. Top-up options are Option 1, Option 2, Seniors (ages 75 to 85) and Exclusive Seniors (ages 86 to 89).

Absa medical travel insurance and emergencies

Basic Travel Insurance does not cover pre-existing medical conditions. For medical claims over R10 000, contact the emergency assistance helpline for approval first; without approval the benefit is limited to R10 000. Have ready your travel policy number (if you bought top-up cover) or the credit card number used for the airline ticket, your location, a telephone number and the nature of the emergency. Cover for travel to Russia, Ukraine and Belarus is suspended until further notice. See Absa credit card travel insurance contact details.

Absa claims contact numbers: HOC, Home Assist, funeral, life and idirect
